Best Care for Kids uses the Breakthrough Series model in its projects to present quality improvement (QI) principles and encourage collaborative learning.

The Breakthrough Series model uses collaborative learning to target improvement in systems processes. Some project examples include:

• Preventive care – ensuring routine incorporation of screening measures such as vision, hearing, growth, and blood pressure
• Asthma care – targets incorporation and use of NIH asthma care guidelines, including a measure of “perfect care”.
